Why this method
- No downloading and re-uploading — the two biggest time sinks in a manual transfer, gone
- Works for a single file or your whole Drive at once
- You can close your laptop the moment you start it
Tutorial
If you're used to downloading everything from Google Drive and re-uploading it to Dropbox by hand, this guide shows the faster way: a server-side transfer that skips your device entirely.
Head to the sign-up page and create an account with your email. No credit card is required for the free tier, which includes 5 GB of monthly transfer.
If you already have an account, skip ahead and just connect the two providers.
From your dashboard, go to Connections and add Google Drive. You'll be sent to Google's own sign-in and consent screen — SaveToDrives never sees or stores your Google password, only an OAuth token that can be revoked at any time.
Repeat the same process for Dropbox: add the connection, sign in on Dropbox's own page, and approve access. You can label each connection if you manage more than one account per provider.
Open Transfer, browse your Google Drive files, and select what you want to move — a single file, a folder, or a large multi-file batch. Choose Dropbox as the destination.
Copy leaves the original in Google Drive untouched. Move deletes it from Google Drive, but only after Dropbox has confirmed a complete, verified upload — so an interrupted transfer can never leave you without the file.
If you're not sure, pick copy. You can always delete the Google Drive copy yourself later once you've confirmed everything landed correctly in Dropbox.
The transfer runs on our workers, not in your browser. Watch live progress in your feed if you want to, or close the tab entirely — you'll get a notification the moment the job finishes.
